My ♥ stopped at Skinny LaMinx.

I have been meaning to do a post on Skinny LaMinx for a while now. The brand belongs to Heather Moore, a very talented designer from Cape Town. She makes the most amazing fabrics and furniture.

I love a scatter cushion more than most people, and choose cushions and fabrics very carefully. I think one or two stand out cushions in a lounge or bedroom can make the room. It's really not hard to see why this talented designer has been featured in a number of publications including Garden and Home and House and Leisure. Her prices are very reasonable and she gets the Heartstop stamp of approval for sure.

Wander over here to visit her online store.

* I love her birdy icon, and birds in design in general, my house looks a bit like an aviary at the moment.

My ♥ stopped at Frieda's.

I hope you all had fabulous weekends. We went to a birthday at Frieda's on Bree. And I'm so glad we did! Frieda's has been around for a while, so I expected to see the old place I knew, but instead it's filled with new decor and has a completely new energy. It's been taken over by a charming New Zealander, who seems to be doing something right, because the place looks amazing. It's the type of place that is so intriguing that you find yourself noticing details throughout the night. There seems to be a mixture of paraphernalia (or travel paraphernalia) including dolls, vintage kitchen appliances and magical Chinese lanterns. I'm loving Frieda's, I'll definitely be back.

My ♥ stopped when I saw these.

I can imagine wearing one of these on a long silver chain. I know they look old-fashioned but I really, really like them. Would you ever wear anything like this? Does anyone know where I could find some in Cape Town?

My ♥ stopped when I saw these short dresses for bridesmaids.

Back in the day it was always an unsaid rule that bridesmaids should look hideous on the wedding day, so as to not 'outshine' the bride. But that was back in the day. I think bridesmaids should be gorgeous, they are after all the special people in your life. I have chosen short dresses for my pretty girls and although simple, the dresses are chic and sexy. The irony is this: when you make your girls look terrible (fuchsia ruffles come to mind) you draw attention to them rather than detract. Your entire wedding party should look amazing, because when bridesmaids feel amazing, they'll be more inclined to want to help with your 'bride-zilla' demands. I'm talking about me, can you tell?

My ♥ stopped when I saw these food pics.

I've had a crazy couple of days, which turned into a crazy couple of weeks, which turned into...you get the picture. Do you ever feel like you're saying 'yes' to everyone else and 'no' to yourself? (very Oprah). Well I think that's been me for a while. And it only became clear to me when I looked at these images of healthy foods. And now I can't stop thinking about healthy food and how I need to start taking better care of myself. When you work in advertising and your life becomes a series of meetings, you need to make sure that you take the time to eat the right food, exercise and get enough sleep. So difficult to achieve! I'm going to make it my mission to eat more like this. To go to more markets, to avoid anything microwaved from Woolies for a while (it's become a co-dependant relationship). Because you get stuck in a rut, by 'you' I mean all women trying to do all things, all at once. You think, oh I'll just have chicken tonight, again. They say you are what you eat, but I say, you eat what you are feeling. Because when I'm exercising and more balanced, the happier me eats healthy, enjoys eating healthy. When I'm stressed, I grab a Coke and feel more stressed. This is the cycle isn't it? And then I remember, every day is another day to turn it all around. And what better day is there than today?
