To wish you a happy public holiday tomorrow, I've put together a few of my favourite things at the moment. The first is the red jacket, I absolutely have to have one this winter. I think they are so chic and can make any outfit pop. I know the Pepe Jeans winter collection will be stocking a few, and I hope to check them out and report back to you guys. The next love is gold, I've been wearing silver for so long, thinking gold looks 'cheap' but suddenly I am completely taken by it again. The House of Harlow gold (14KT) stack coin ring is gorgeous! 100 dollars but still gorgeous!

My ♥ stopped when I saw this wedding mood board.

When you start planning your wedding, make a mood board. This won't seem important to you at the time, but its importance will become clear as you go along. Don't be THAT person who changes their mind at the last minute. I say this because I am THAT person. I am lucky enough to have a wedding planner, who sources all the lovely things that I want for the day, but this poor, tenacious lady has been sent on a wild goose chase by me. Since our first meeting I've changed: The cake (about 4 times), the decor (going on about 11 times), the COLOURS (this is a biggie), the 'theme' (huge!) and the numbers (which I forgive myself for). And I can say with 100% clarity that this would have been avoided through the proper construction of a mood board. By doing one, you begin to see which things 'don't really work' fairly quickly. And if you have a wedding planner, they can source things you wouldn't have thought of because they understand the overall feel of the day. I am, by my own admission, a bride-zilla.

I always imagine that I'll look old-fashioned in anything floral. But then I see pics like these and think 'I want, I want'. Here's the thing, I've figured out that you need to wear a solid/flat colour with something floral, that way you avoid looking like you've wrapped a curtain around you. The end result is so feminine and ethereal, I adore it.

I am always on the lookout for a great tee. How amazing are these? I adore dressing up as much as the next girl does but at heart I am a slave to the tee and jeans 'casual' look. Any of these would be perfect under a leather jacket. My favourite is the bottom one from J Crew.

My ♥ stopped at Tashas.

We made our way to Tashas last weekend. And I'm so glad we did. This little restaurant really does have a unique recipe for making people feel spoilt. The vibe was almost tangible, happy faces sprinkled throughout the cosy space, leaving you with that warm feeling in your tummy. And that full feeling in your tummy. Speaking of which, the food was superb!(see above).


Aside from the inspiring lunch menu, Tashas has the finest spread of all the sweet delights you could lust after, gingerbread men, macaroons and fudge being my personal faves. I judge a place by the way my tea arrives, and Tashas gets 10/10 for their black DIY teapots. The staff were excellent, you know, not-too-pushy, not-too-invisible. We stayed far longer than we should have, indulging in everything Tashas has to offer, and we'll definitely be back.

My ♥ stopped when I saw the bride wear black.

Sometimes when you do something unconventional, the world gives you a standing ovation. Or just I do :) This bride wore black and she looks sensational. I love the little details; the ruffles, the headband, the beautiful little boy (he's just edible don't you think?)


From the bride: Kevin and I never dreamed when we met that our relationship would be anything short of temporary. He was 7 years my JR. and I was 28 with the intention of settling down and having a family by the age of 30. We just couldn’t fathom that our paths would ever meet in the middle. As it turns out, love had very different plans for us. After 3 months of avoidance we wound up talking for hours, instantly became the best of friends, fell in love, bought a house and 3 years later started a family.


What a story. You get that goose-bumpy feeling reading it, like you're looking into someone's dreams.


My favourite moment? Despite all the details, people, and entertainment, my favourite moment was a stolen couple of minutes on a bench behind the tent, hidden away from everyone else with my new husband while we sat, hand in hand and looked at the stars.


Incredible, the only word I can think of. I love that she talks about their 'moment', hidden from the world, owned only by two people taking a giant leap of faith. The whole thing is completely dreamy.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways! I adore these sunnies, especially the purple and yellow ones. They normally retail somewhere between R2500 and 'completely ridiculous' but today (and today only) you can get them for R999!

My ♥ stopped at Mungo & Jemima.

Mungo & Jemima, one of my greatest fashion loves. I remember buying my first item, hanging it in my cupboard and treating it like a gem. And receiving hundreds of compliments because of it. This little store is amazing, not only do they stock beautiful tops, they have one of the best jewellery ranges too (I have the little blue birdie that the blonde model is wearing). 

Labels stocked include I love Leroy, Take Care, Michelle Ludek, Selfi, Margot Molyneux, Unknown, Robyn Caris, Spilt Milk and swimwear by LoveWaterLove. Jewellery by Skermunkil, Collect and Peter Eastman is complimented by accessories by covetable Cape Town-based labels Hello Sailor, Missibaba and Kate & Allie.

The Mungo & Jemima customer is a discerning shopper of all ages. She understands fashion, but is not a slave to it and is looking for a quality alternative to mass produced looks of the high-street. 

You'll find the store on the corner of Church and Long - you'll probably find me there too, putting my lunch break to good use :)
